Trip Blog (Day 3)

Well, Saturday was a nice start. Grandma Mo bought sausage patties so I made the kids sausage McMuffins, eggs, and muffins. They made it through most of their breakfast. It then dawned on me that they don't each much for breakfast because at home we don't really have time so they get a smoothie, oatmeal, or a bowl of cereal for breakfast. lol
We finished in plenty of time to make the Weenie Dog Races in downtown Manhattan in conjunction with the Dog Days of Summer sales. It was a BLAST. The kids didn't really appreciate it as much as I did but as they grow and learn about their family history, they will understand. I think they were just really bummed Johnny can never participate in them. Before we left, we took a ride on a revamped retired fire truck that is from 1947.
We then went home and let the kids ride bikes until lunch. This time I stayed out of trouble! After lunch (which was small), we took the kids to the pool. It was Aunt Tami, the kids and I. I even got in the pool but luckily there are no pictures of me! We stayed until 2:30 and then headed home. Adella went BACK to the hair stylist as we weren't pleased with the fact the bangs were still a little long and the layers started too low in the back so the dramatic effect of the cut wasn't there. JJ, however, was put down right after the pool and it took him about 10-15 minutes to fall asleep but then was out. Adella went to sleep with Grandma Mo when she got home so I crashed upstairs. When we woke, it was pretty much time to head over to Mema's for dinner and some Birdwell family time. We stayed until 8pm HOPING to go to the carnival afterwards but T-Storms had a better idea. Boo. So hopefully, my Abilify will be more in my system by August 5th and I can take them to the carnival in Gardner when we are down there. Yup, you heard me right, we are ALSO going to the JoCo Fair. We had a great time at Mema's and she made this WONDERFUL, to die for stew. I think I might be able to live on that stuff!
Since we didn't do the carnival, we went home and planned to send the kids to bed, but Grandma Mo let the kids watch her fix Adella's Tinkerbell shorts since it was safety pinned. THEN everyone was sent to bed!
