So Peanut had 1/2 day yesterday and today. I picked her up from school yesterday but that was insane pick-up line. So, I caved and decided to let Peanut walk. However, it isn't completely what Peanut wants. I am not ready to have her cross Johnson & Antioch even though she thinks she is ready (conversation will follow). I parked near the end of 61st St allowing her to walk 1/2 mile by herself.
She was ECSTATIC today. She stopped at all the streets and watched for cars. She had the crossing guard help her cross 61st St at Cody so she could stay walking on the sidewalk. So, on the drive home she said she is old enough to walk home because she knows how to cross streets safely. This is what followed:
Me: This light with the stop light is a very dangerous intersection. If a car isn't paying attention, it could hit and kill you.
Peanut: No, look mom, there is signs that tell you what to do. You push a button and wait for the white light that tells you to walk.
Me: *sigh* We will re-discuss this when you are in 4th grade. Maybe then. Right now you are too young.
Peanut: Too young? Are you sure?
Me: Even grandma Mo thinks you are too young.
Peanut: She does? Oh, okay, maybe when I am 7 then.
Me: *sigh*
Bullfrog started school as well. He thoroughly enjoyed his one on one time with me. I found out he is farther than I thought he was. He already knows the difference between uppercase and lowercase letters. He also is starting to learn letter blend sounds. I think we will spend more time writing numbers because he only knows how to write the number 1. I think his 2 favorite things are art (he has his own paint now) and his fine motor skill box (he has a new puzzle and some Lincoln Logs).
Now that we are starting the day earlier, it is time to start naps for Bullfrog. So tomorrow will be easier cause Peanut will be in school until 3pm but for today, Bullfrog will nap and Peanut will be having quiet time.
I am so excited that school is in session and I have my old Peanut back!! YAY!!!
