I am sorry I haven't blogged recently. I have been pretty tired and we have had a lot on our plate the past week. My brother-in-law is officially out of the hospital but he is still pretty sick and now he has come down with the flu. He can't catch a break. Our weekend was packed and it was a lot of fun. I will be putting pictures up on my Facebook and my multiply sites. I will get the uploading started after I finish with the blog.
Friday night was the Shawnee Mission North vs Olathe South game that Peanut got to cheer at. For those who missed this who shin dig, she participated in a program called the Lil' Indians Cheer Clinic which involves all the grade schools in the Shawnee Mission North zone I believe. There were probably close to 50 little girls there from K-8th grade. They had practice on the 19th from 8 in the morning to 11. At the game, she got a shirt and a ribbon to put in her hair. Last year, she didn't cheer. It was raining and the game had been postponed. This year was different. She cheered and was excited to be there. Her MeMa, Grandpa, Amy, dad, Bullfrog and mom attended. Grandpa (Jer's dad) was gracious enough to lend us a camera for the night. He actually lent us a camcorder too but that is another story. lol. We have photos and video to put up.
Saturday was LONG. I woke up at 5am, fell back asleep until 5:45am and then had to go shopping for food for the party that was starting at 11 ... or at least that was SUPPOSED to start at 11. Too bad I didn't just sleep in and arrive a couple hours late as well. Everyone would have been "on time" then. I made gluten-free brownies for my sister-in-law and was SO glad those turned out well. Her birthday is tomorrow and I wanted her to have a dessert she could eat. We also brought hamburgers for us cause we aren't big hot dog fans. The hamburgers were a HUGE hit so I am glad I stocked up on those. Maybe I should have just asked people to pitch in and bought more. They were on sale ... YAY HyVee has Chiefs now. Woot. All my meat goes on sale from Friday thru Sundays! I also made veggie bars ... for fear of losing my place in the family tree on Jer's side. I think I doomed myself the first time I made those. At least something that is EXTREMELY easy and CHEAP to make is one of their favorite things to eat. We made a cake for Jesse as a delayed event that we had planned. The kids thoroughly enjoyed that. I also made a fish for my brother-in-law so he would have something to eat but STUPID me forgot to clean my GF grill off before cooking it so there were areas of the fish that were super spicy. He can't have spicy. That bummed me out. I WAS exstatic to hear he liked it otherwise. So the recipe for the rub will be given to them so they can tweak it to their likings.
After eating, we did presents. Peanut got a bag full of Hannah Montana garb (microphone, dog tags, barrettes, etc). Bullfrog got a remote control car and 2 movies (Toy Story 2 and American Tail). Jeremy got a game set with backgammon, chess, and checkers as well as Hancock. I can't wait for a date night. I got the all time BEST gift ever. "A Miracle in Manhattan" is a book published by the Manhattan Mercury and I got a soft bound copy of it. I am IN HEAVEN! For those who didn't know ... um, well I am a Cats fan. I bleed purple.
We were running so far behind that I opted to not have my son jet off to the park where I would have no idea when I would see him again. I let my daughter get her nails painted because we had told her earlier in the day that she would be getting her nails done and I didn't want to disappoint. She chose the color purple because she knows it is my favorite color. She also chose 2 purple spider stickers to put on her big toes to act like a big girl. She had her first pedi at the age of 6. LOL.
After that we went home. The game plan had been to have a date night because I didn't have to work but I was extremely tired from the lack of sleep the night before that a migraine was beginning to form. What a waste of a night off.
Sunday I went to church for the first time in awhile. Church starts at 9am so getting off work at 6am and then going to church 3 hours later is difficult. Bullfrog gave the scripture during sharing time and loved that. He also did very good.
Today was a recovery from working last night and that was about it. It is back to the same old stuff this week. Jer has Thursday & Friday off and I have Friday off so we are going to the American Royale BBQ.
