I am part of freecycle and a post 2 days ago was regarding a poor woman who is moving and can not take her precious pets with her. I have been wanting rats for awhile so I cleared it with the hubby (who also loves rats) and we decided to take in the babies. They came with a cage and bedding. Poor things have been being given hamster food so they were introduced to rat food today and chowed a bit on that. I gave them a bath bowl that I will take away tomorrow evening when I get back home after they have had a chance to play in it a bit. They are both males and unfortunately know their names. Cheddars is a light colored rat who is almost 2 yrs old. He is in fairly good health, though, so we may have a few years with him. Obama (again, wish they hadn't known their names well), is a black rat that is only 10 months old. He does come to his name but that is about as social as he is right now. We will work on that as rats are usually very social and want lovin'. The kids are super excited. Cheddars has already taken to Bullfrog but they are mine and Jer's rats. Their cage is HUGE so we are working on clearing off my dresser so they can go on top of it. Johnny and Cheddars have been introduced and Cheddars was okay with Johnny .... until Johnny licked him! lol.
Tomorrow we are off bright and early to the state fair. Pray for no rain. My wonderful friend has graciously opened her house up to our pup who doesn't have his bordetella updated. Everyone else will be fine without constant supervision. We are leaving at 6am and have no idea when we plan on returning. Sometime in the evening. We are taking the laptop for movies and Jer is getting snacks either late tonight or tomorrow morning. No blog update for Peanut tomorrow or emails.
