Well, I am such a horrible blogger. LOL I think we all knew that by now though. It has been over 2 weeks since I last posted anything new so there is a lot of summarizing going to happen.
1. Didn't end up having a week of vacation at the daycare. We stayed home only Monday and Friday.
2. On July 2nd, Crown Center started their Free Friday Night Flicks. I have never gone before but decided that it would be something fun and free to do. We went to watch Pretty In Pink while the kids played at Grandpa & Amy's house. It was so much fun we decided to do it again!
3. We tried to do July 4th by going to watch fireworks but it POURED and we got SOAKED. We went with some friends and Peanut just went home with them. Bullfrog camped for a 2nd night in a row and roasted marshmallows. The next night was the rain day and even though I wasn't hopeful with rain in the forecast, it was DRY! The fireworks display was beautiful. Well worth the wait.
4. This week started on a down note. We are back down 2 kids so my partner and I are re-thinking how we want to run the business with the policy book, etc. By the end of the week we have a plan. Now we will decide early next week when that plan goes into action.
5. Like I said, we had a TON of fun at the Free Friday Night Flicks so last night they showed Jurassic Park. I packed a dinner (sandwiches, yogurt, apple cubes, squash slices, carrot sticks, granola bars, and Nutter Butter bars for dessert), we grabbed 2 chairs and 2 towels. Then the kids grabbed their suits and played in the fountain. Peanut was timid to start but after getting going, played a lot longer than Bullfrog. He got cold. The kids LOVED the movie though and both fell asleep when they got home.
Now, to today. Bullfrog had an eye exam to make sure everything is still good with his eyes and he is right where he should be. There was some minor concern with how close he was wanting to hold a book but turns out it is normal for children to ask to hold the book closer. We just have to monitor how close or if the distance changes at all. Then I went to City Market without the kids because today was the Farm to Table Tour sponsored by Toyota. YUMMY, but long waits. It was SO worth it though. The weather was fairly nice (a little muggy) and there were 4 food stations. Each station was a local farm stand paired with a local chef. It is to promote local restaurants using local farmers' food. Station 1 had a Bison sirloin cooked medium well served over rosotto and peas topped with bean sprouts and cilantro. Station 2 was shredded bison and salsa served on a freshly made tortilla chip & cucumber/sheep cheese salad served on a toasted bruschetta bread slice. Station 3 was freshly chilled tomato soup with a pesto (I HATE tomato soup and this ROCKED! Gonna have to find a recipe cause this would be great daycare food). Station 4 was fresh grapevine tomato gazpacho with a shrimp salsa. After you visited each station, they stamped your "passport" and you turn that in for a chance to win a trip to Santa Barbara AND a free potted herb. I now have English Thyme growing at my house. Hopefully I won't kill it. I hear Thyme is fairly easy to grow. For a LONGER wait (which I viewed not worth it), you could test drive a Toyota Hybrid for free AND get a free wooden cutting board (valued at $25). I just was getting too warm and still needed to shop so I skipped that.
Tonight we are going to the City of Mission's Family Picnic. They are serving a free dinner to all who come and there will be music and fun. Another free family outing. I LOVE Kansas City summers!
