Well, today was uneventful, for the most part. Last night ended badly but we left that in yesterday. This morning woke up and checked the stairs, turned out they were pure ice this morning. They got better because this evening they weren't that slippery. So, we weren't able to make it to church. Can't chance a crippled or a pregnant slipping on stairs. I was pretty sure if I called to ask them to treat them, they would have charged us with emergency maintenance so I just put kitty litter on them for traction a little later.
For lunch I was craving corn dogs. They are SO expensive to buy though so I decided to search for a recipe. I found a great one and added it to my recipe box. I plan on buying hot dogs when they are 10 for $10 and make a whole bunch of them. Then I can saran wrap them, put them in freezer bags and stock our freezer with corn dogs. :)
So for dinner, Jeremy was craving KFC ... BUT KFC costs money. PLUS I have been following a blog written by a VERY good friend. It is called Eating In with Ingenuity and you should check it out. So, what did I do tonight? I made our OWN fried chicken. Made oven-fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and steamed broccoli. Since that was a heavy dinner, our dessert was ice cold orange slices (fresh from the freezer) and hot cocoa with whipped cream on top. I am SUPER full and Jeremy said I made Swanson's Hungry-Man dinners look like sissies. What do you think? :D
Love the idea of frozen fresh orange slices. I freeze purple grapes and enjoy those a lot.
ReplyDeleteyeah, I love ice cold grapes as well, but usually eat them in the summer. My friend brought up the idea of fresh fruit for dessert since the meal was heavy. I remembered my favorite Chinese restaurant serves ice cold oranges at the end of the meal and it sounded fantastic. Kids LOVED it too!!
