Well, we weren't able to travel for Thanksgiving due to the possible impending birth of our baby, so hubby and I decided to do something that has been on our to-do list for 11 years. We went to the Plaza Lighting Ceremony on Thanksgiving evening. It was fun and entertaining, but I don't think we will do it as a tradition. There is a lot of dead time that isn't filled very well and it just wasn't as magical as we had expected it to be. HOWEVER, the lights are still gorgeous so at least looking at the lights from the top of a parking garage and walking around the Plaza during the lighted season will be done annually as we live in the KC Metro.
That brings me to my next thought, Advent season traditions. While I work to re-find the holiday spirit with all the hustle and bustle of birthday parties, travel plans, gift purchasing, etc, we are starting some traditions that we will enjoy doing as a family. Our list currently includes
~ Seeing Christmas lights in the neighborhood
~ Making gingerbread houses
~ Decorating Sugar Cookies
~ Making Grandma Osborne's candies
~ Leaving goodies for nurses, firefighters, and police officers who work through the holidays to keep us safe and healthy
~ Ringing the Salvation Army Bell at least once
~ Lighting Advent Candles each Sunday
~ Put up and decorate our Christmas tree
What are some things on your Advent season traditions list?
