My Stand Against Bullying!

Before I get into the main topic of my post for tonight, I need to state that I have been a busy little worker bee today. I have posted a cover photo for this blog, and I have created a second blog to host my sample work! Please let any of your friends know that I am currently accepting private clients and I do have the ability to work quickly. You can access the new blog from the tab above this post that reads "Writing Samples."

Now ... onto my public service announcement.

I do not, nor will I EVER tolerate being bullied. I don't tolerate my kids bullying me, kids bullying other kids, or anyone being aggressive with me.

I understand that things do not always go the way you visioned them to be. But name-calling, trash talking, threats ... NEVER a way to get it to change in your direction. Bully tactics are what led me to quit working at PetSmart (which, btw, the person being the bully was finally released after a thorough investigation was done). I do not take kindly to those who think they can throw a temper fit and demand that I listen to it.

Let me fill you in on a little secret ... I let my kids have temper fits. I think it is healthy that they know it is OKAY to be mad. Not everything in life is okay. HOWEVER, with that said, there are a few rules to their temper fits.
  1. You are not allowed to destroy the house in the process.
  2. You are not allowed to call names.
  3. You are not allowed to be disrespectful.
  4. You are not allowed to throw the temper in front of me.
  5. You are not allowed to be physically or verbally abusive.
  6. You ARE allowed to come talk to me after you have completely gotten your rant over.
Guess what, folks ... it WORKS. I take that same tactic with adults. Do not threaten me, do not disrespect me, and work through your emotions. Once you have done that, then I am more than willing to work through what it is we need to.

If people do not cave to bullies ... if people walk away ... if people stand up and take the power back ... then bullies will have nothing. I firmly believe this is possible.
