Until now ... I was given the opportunity to test out eMeals. I was excited to see how this menu planning website helped with our family's needs. The prices of the meals needed to affordable and they needed to be able to either feed 6 or at least be able to adjust easily.
Background on eMeals:
I have to admit, I had heard of eMeals but I had not taken the chance to check them out. Mainly because they were a little out of our price range and they didn't not use the cheapest of supermarkets. This has changed since the last time I researched them! They now have special menus including clean eating, Paleo, gluten-free, vegetarian, and even low carb. You can set the family size and the grocery store (WHICH they now have Wal-Mart and Aldi's <- MAJOR WINS!)
So, what do you get with a subscription?
You get a weekly menu, recipes, shopping list, and coupons. Even Dave Ramsey, Financial Planning Guru, supports eMeals because it has been shown to save around $1000/year. It can be hard to see the savings when you initial drop the subscription amount, however, I can tell you that after buying ONE meal ... The savings were apparent.
My thoughts?
Being a busy mom, I have to admit that I was a little leery of it being as helpful as it turned out to be. In my email, I get a PDF form of the menu that is very easy to print.

We decided to make the following meal:
We had not had pork chops in FOREVER. Needless to say ... When THIS:
I was SOLD. It took minimal effort to make this meal. For enough food to feed our family, we spent $15 ... to feed 6 people. That is only $2.50/person!
So ... Did meals meet the criteria for my family?
- Feed a family of 6 (also feeds smaller and larger)
- Reasonably priced menu
- Affordable (year subscription costs the same as 1 meal out for our family!)
- Customizable
Yes, to all of the above. Currently, you can get 25% off with the code school
