Life with toddlers is not always easy, and it can lead to a great deal of frustrations. Especially when you have two toddlers that are 20 months apart. They are close enough to be best friends, but far enough apart to have different needs. For example, Monkey technically can survive on one nap a day, while Turtle still desperately needs two. However, since they are so close, I cannot get Turtle to sleep without Monkey.
However, there are definitely times that make me smile and it makes all other times worth it!
Grandma Mo came to pick up Peanut and Bullfrog for dinner, and Monkey was not happy about being left behind. So, I told her that I would take her to get candy later. Well, flash forward about an hour. Turtle was being put down for a power nap and Monkey wanted to join her. We told her that mommy was getting ready to leave. She didn't care. So ... I left. I got to the mailbox when the phone call came with Monkey melting down in the background. The whole way to the store, I got to hear Monkey state:
"You not nice. You made me cry. You leave me all lone. Not nice. Mean."
"I'm sorry!"
"It made me sad."
"I am sorry. I came back to get you to get your candy."
"And juice please? It makes my tummy happy."
"Yes, we will get you juice too."
"You so nice!"
Then, after dinner when we let her have the candy ... she gave a few to Turtle. Turtle then followed her around like a lost puppy. She caused the bowl to drop occasionally and would pick up almost all of them, but stash a few in her mouth. Then Monkey left the bowl unattended for just a few minutes, and Turtle tore over to the couch. She KNEW we saw her but she kept flipping her head around looking to see if we were watching her and giggling.
