How to not let the dry weather cause you grief this year

I don't know about you, but there are two times my skin gets SOOOOO dry I want to cry. In fact, my husband and I call it almost "orgasmic" when we put lotion on. This is after I have been washing dishes or washing my hands and then ALL. WINTER. LONG. It is common for my skin to crack and it looks scaly. I know I am not the only one.

Thankfully, I know of several products that help keep my skin nourished, preventing me from having the "point of crying" dry skin. If you live in the KC Metro and want to try the products out, contact me for a FREE facial and tester session!

Satin Lips Set

Satin Lips set is like Satin Hands ... for your lips. The mask helps to exfoliate your lips, removing that dead, wind damaged skin. Then, you apply the moisturizing lip balm giving you an extra protective layer, keeping your lips super soft.

Satin Hands Set

The Satin Hands set is a three step process to keep your hands feeling soft, smooth, and moisturized all day long. Before you put on your exfoliant, you start with a hand softener. This is the secret to the Satin Hand system. It locks in moisture and adds a layer of protection. Then you are ready to apply the exfoliant with the scrub that includes a cleanser. Your final step is to apply the lotion that keeps your hands feeling protected for 24 hours. Currently, Mary Kay offers Satin Hands in a Fragrance Free formula and a Peach.

Extra Emollient Night Cream

The Extra Emollient Night Cream is my FAVORITE for my elbows and hands. These are two areas that get SO dry. It helps to retain your natural skin moisture and is suitable for all skin types. It is also formulated to not clog your pores, preventing breakouts.

Moisture Renewing Gel Mask

After you have been out in the cold weather, spend 10 minutes and completely renew your skin. You will lock in the moisture and keep your youthful appearance. It's a quick way to give your skin something back after protecting you against the harsh weather outdoors.

Intense Moisturizing Cream

The Intense Moisturizing Cream is a product that really should be in EVERYONE'S home. It is divine. It is one that just sampling it will make you want more. The moisturizer claims to leave you feeling hydrated for 10 hours, but I honestly feel it much longer. It not only moisturizes your skin, it also softens it to leave it looking youthful.

Night Restore & Recover

After the day is over, let your skin rejuvenate and heal overnight. With the TimeWise Night Restore & Recover you can recover while you sleep. You will help your skin recover from the damage during the day, including the wind and restore your skin's barrier to be prepared for the next day!

So ... with all these fine products available, I am going to hold a special during the month of December. Here it is!

  1. My biggest thing is my scalp getting dry in the winter time. Sometimes I just slop lotion on the worst pats for overnight and then wash and condition in the morning. It wasn't this bad until last winter... and because my house has wooden floors, the humidity is sucked right out of the air... nothing left for my head... lol

    1. I put tea tree oil in my shampoo. I have found it helps to remove all the dead, dry skin from my scalp. That way, when I put the conditioner on, it seems to absorb better. I hate my scalp being itchy too and this has been the only solution I have found that works. :)

  2. Heather,

Thanks for the reminder to use creams often, at different points during the day and overnight. Even in South Florida, in the humidity, I find my skin sometimes becoming dry.

    Warmly,
    Dr. Erica

    1. Yes, people remember to hydrate by drinking water but they don't think about keeping their skin moisturized. :)

    1. These are my favorite products. You might ask your consultant if there are others that she likes. I use tea tree oil in my shampoo to help scrub the dead skin off my scalp and I have noticed that the conditioner seems to work better. Maybe something to try. :)

Great information. I can wash my hands over 10 times during the day. I had to find lotion without water works wonders. You product line is something I must say, I have not seen around? This may be the answer not only for women, yet all of us.

Thank you for the needed healing help. I will be looking into this product line and back for more amazing tips.

    1. Yes, Mary Kay is NOT only for women! We have a men's line as well. The products mentioned here work well for both, as my husband uses the Satin Lips and Satin Hands during the winter for his lips, hands, AND feet!!

  5. Heather, I used to use Mary Kay many years ago. Now I use doTERRA essential oils, creams and skin care products and I love them. I also like to make my own whipped body butter with coconut oil and essential oils blended in. Thanks for sharing!
