I know that many of you know one of my biggest goals this year is to lose weight and become healthy. I had been working on it throughout 2014 but I never got fully serious. This year is different. I haven't been on my blog much this week because I have been resetting my life. Being healthy is much more than just working out. You have to eat right, sleep right, drink water, and exercise. Your body is complex.
Many people believe that if they burn as many calories as they take in, they will maintain weight. Unfortunately, it is not that simple. I have stopped calorie counting because I found that if I eat properly, I have no problems keeping on speaking terms with my scale.
So, this past week I have changed my diet (started going towards Clean Eating and Paleo - but still have carbs in a few meals when I will be doing a heavy workout) and set up an area to work out. I know that with four children and one vehicle, the odds of me getting to the gym as often as I would like isn't likely. I don't want that to be an excuse ... Here's my week:
 |
Homemade fish sticks, homemade slaw, sauteed zucchini |
 |
workout area before treadmill, pilates, stepper, pullup bar, step aerobics step, yoga mat, and bosu ball were added |
 |
organized my laundry area and food pantry so I know exactly what I have |
 |
Chicken & Couscous Salad with sauteed zucchini |
 |
Shrimp Penne with steamed asparagus |
How are you moving towards your goals? Let me know in the comments below!
I find that counting calories is a great way to eat healthier because the best way to maximize the amount you can eat is to eat healthy. I, too, have health goals for 2015, and I can only hope to be eating food that looks as good as the food you have have had this last week.
ReplyDeleteI get hyperfocused which is why I stopped. It's also why I had to break up with the scale for a while. I tend to start weighing myself several times a day. I think each person has to find the method that works best for them!
DeleteLike you, I too am trying to focus more on what and how much goes in Heather. And now that you've got your workout area setup, looks like the only thing missing is you!
ReplyDeleteLOL .... I am really loving my area. I need to clean and do some maintenance on my treadmill. That is on the list of things to do this week
DeleteYou're doing a great job setting yourself up for success and sticking with your plan to reach your goal. I have many goals for the year, as I always do. I have goals in each main area of my life - - business, health, personal growth, spirituality and relationships. One of my goals in the health category is also to lose some weight and get into better shape. It's consistency and discipline with exercise that I struggle with the most so I have reminders and inspirational quotes around my home office and I have exercise scheduled in my planner. I've also started doing some yoga, which I really enjoy.
ReplyDeleteYoga really is my favorite ... I need to put up some pictures and outfits in my home gym so that I can be reminded what my goal is
DeleteI found that eating small meals and walking 15 minutes about 4 days is best. You watch all that starch and white bread. Look at the health chart with food which turn into our bodies sugars. Then, leave them out of you life. It works better than all the rest of the stuff.
ReplyDeleteYou are not working towards loosing weight. You are balancing your body to a healthy level. Please, do not think about "I am going to loose weight". It will not happen? Think of "It is a great day to take a walk". Get those children involved and take pictures of areas you choose to walk with yourself or children. It works and if you have music, play three full songs then you are done for that day.
Let us know how it is going after 3 weeks. If you drink water vs anything else. Keep away from starch. Then, all the other foods our bodies turn to sugar. You will beat you original goal. Yes, step on that scale each day and watch the pounds go away.
This works and is simple with being natural. No sugar foods and water with healthy choices. No temptations and sneaking a snack of sugar. It is a willing choice. Once made then the discipline kicks in. You can and will accomplish everything you set your mind to. Just do not talk about it until you accomplish your goal. If you talk about each day, nothing will work right.
Take care and our prayers are with you. I love it!
I only returned to see your reply Heather? I will give it some more time. As being it is a huge struggle sometimes to get through all the operational support one must to for their blogs survival. I know, being one who manages my own blog and various business sites. I am patient and willing to wait.
DeleteI worked with Beachbody for a while but am now back on my own for weight loss. I have decided that I am first concerned with my diet. I know that in the beginning, changing your diet is 90% of the process. It is a work in process as sugar is EXTREMELY addicting. I am also working up to working out 3x a week for 30 minutes. Eventually, I am hoping to be working out 6 days a week for 45 minutes each :)
