I HATE HATE HATE the medical field. I swear. GROWL.
Okay, so Friday I ran Bullfrog to the ER because he had this really really really nasty draining thing on his tailbone area and on his left elbow. So, they took my $150 and then took a culture ... or so I thought. I go to Bullfrog's pediatrician today for a follow-up. Bullfrog was prescribed Augmentin and Bactroban that he had been taking since Friday. Well, today we learned that no culture was ever done. Say what? *sigh* So we had no real reference because the area that had drainage has gotten better but the other ares are still rash looking. He says that regular staph infection could be getting better with the antibiotic but if it is MRSA, it could look better in those areas due to drainage. SO, I have been put on the guess that it is MRSA because there area a few other ares. I was given a prescription for a stronger antibiotic and so I took that to Walmart where it is supposedly only $4. She told me it depends on the quantity of the liquid. *sigh* Then, she says, um, there is no quantity on the script. Say what? *sigh* She told me they will call the script in to the dr to get the amount but it probably won't be ready until this afternoon. So I guess Jer is picking up the script.
Now I get to call OP Regional to call and complain about the culture never getting sent to the lab and then I have to monitor Bullfrog's infection areas for the next 5-10 days. Hopefully ... HOPEFULLY this will be the beginning of the end of this battle.
Call it the Death of Customer Service.
ReplyDeleteupdate 1. Script ended up costing us $2. The insurance pays 80% of the $4 script. Don't ask, I don't understand.update 2. He looks a little better but it obviously is too soon to tell. We currently have 3 spots we have to clean and rebandage 3x a day and a few bumps here and there that we just have to put cream on 3x a day.
