The fair is upon us!! Last Saturday was clothing and fabric arts judging and Peanut entered a pair of pajama pants. She got a blue on the construction and a blue on her style review. She knows that next year she will need to work on the following things: making sure her lines are straight and she starts where she stopped if she has to correct a seam, work on posture and knowledge of caring for the garment. While she is slightly bummed she didn't get a purple, we have told her multiple times that a blue is AWESOME for the first year in 4-H.
This week we have been designing, altering, and shopping for her posters and pictures to enter for the fair. She came up with the initial design for her two posters and then with the aide of Grandma Mo and mommy, we have tweaked her design enough to get her more points for creativity and educational value of the poster. She has a LOT of work to do on them tomorrow so we won't be up all night on Sunday (which still might happen if we have food snafus). Her pictures, however, are all set and ready to take on Monday night. Spent an entire afternoon measuring the tops and the sides to make sure those suckers fit the guidelines PRECISELY! Talk about anal. Anyway, I think her photos look great this year and I am very excited to see if the judge is as excited as we are. We have been over the fact that photographs are just like art and some people just don't get it or don't like it. She will need to be prepared for that.
This entire week has been breastfeeding awareness week and I have struggled for MONTHS with Monkey on nursing and my supply. Things have FINALLY gotten better. We still have a couple bad days now and then but she is almost completely eating from me now. To celebrate the end of breastfeeding awareness week, there is an event called The Big Latch-On tomorrow morning. Moms across the United States are all meeting in designated locations at the same time and are going to attempt to set a world record for the most moms nursing at one time. I am very excited to be able to participate in this endeavor.
Well, I am going to catch a few zzz's and let my back recover from bending over and measuring, and re-measuring lines to help Adella have the best posters possible. This wraps up such an eventful week of VERY hot baseball game attendance, swimming, Fashion Revue (where Peanut walked off the stage before they were done reading her paragraph *eye roll*) and shopping. Peanut is SO exited for her first year in the fair that it is all she has been thinking about .... well, outside of the fact she is finally big enough to enter the big kids' pool AND go off the diving board (give momma a heart attack) AND go down the big tube slide. Yup, my little girl is growing up. Next year, both kids will be full blown 4-Hers. Holy cow. :/
