Tonight was the Family Fun Day at the Johnson County Fair and of course we had to go. Peanut has been talking for a YEAR to attempt to catch a greased pig again this year. So, we left with my good friend Sarah at 2pm and headed that direction. After looking at a few animals, we took off to get into line for muttin bustin' because the line was already growing. We got in line at 5:15pm and the window didn't open until 6:30pm but we waited in the sun ... no sunscreen. BAD mommy. Although, I think *I* am the one who ended up being burned. Serves me right. Peanut weighed in and got signed up as #524. We then sat and watched the pedal pull until it was game time. They did 501-526 first and Peanut tried her hardest, however she had her shoe caught in the chute as she had just gotten on when they opened the gate. She fell off shortly after leaving the chute but hey, she had a BLAST! She also got a green ribbon and a score of 33. She can't wait to do it again next year now that she has had a little practice. After that was the calf scramble. They have to be 7 to participate in that so Peanut is waiting until next year. They then did the second half of muttin bustin'. Then bring on the greased pigs. Bullfrog decided to try this year too and he was content to chase them around the arena but didn't try to catch them too hard. Peanut ALMOST got one 3 different times but just didn't fall on them to get a good hold on it. However she caught a $1 when the guys threw them out after the scramble. Bullfrog was okay with it for awhile, and then he was upset. Peanut gave him the dollar because she was sure she could get another one the next year. So sweet of her. The kids are now washing up and getting ready for bed. It is almost midnight and I am bushed but it was a lot of fun.
