Ugh, it has been a very rough weekend. I went back to work for the first time since the 22nd of July on Friday. My coworker had a family emergency though and I was forced to work with my boss. Which meant, I did everything. He moved the paper towel dispenser and a rack that holds the dog deodorizer spray and wipes but that was IT. UGH UGH UGH. I am sorry but if you work the overnight, your status should not matter and you are there to work. So, I made him load me all the dogs because I was tired of working by 3:30am. We finished shortly after 5am and I left early. Not supposed to but he told me I could, so I did. I was pooped. I let him know that officially I would prefer to be PT after Jan 1st. The countdown has begun.
Then, Saturday everything was running great. Until 15 minutes before I was to clock off, that is. I was asked by my coworker to help feed a 20 yr old, blind cat. She has really bad arthritis so in the morning you have to kind of hold her up and she had knocked her water bowl over too (poor baby) and so I was toweling her off while feeding. She kept trying to eat the plate so I was holding onto the side and she missed the plate and got my thumb. It wasn't vicious and she was SO upset that she stopped eating. She wouldn't touch any more of her food after that. *sigh* So workman's comp was called, I was sent to the hospital (because I guess it is mandatory after a cat bite), and then put on antibiotics. The accident was at 5:45am, I got out of the hospital shortly before 8am, and then didn't get back home until shortly before 9am. It was a fiasco. Animal control was called because it was a bite, the mom has to quarenteen the cat for 10 days, the workman's comp place didn't fax any paperwork to the ER, and then I had to drive to find a 24 hr pharmacy. Just a huge ordeal for a small bite. It does hurt, don't get me wrong but it was an ACCIDENT it wasn't anything vicious or on purpose. Sheesh.
So, bring on Sunday. Again, most of the night was running pretty good until morning. When we had dogs that chose to poop in their room, multiple times, and then had a very old golden retriever mess his room from both ends and then laid in it. I didn't care if I got fired for bathing a long haired dog or not, I am NOT letting a poor old dog stay covered in ickies. So I bathed him. Coworker cleaned his room while I cleaned him. I also had to figure out what to do with a wormy dog because he had messed in his room. After getting all the rooms cleaned, went back to find out that the golden had messed in his room again so I moved him, cleaned it again, then put him back and cleaned the room we had put him in. I think I ended up cleaning 5 rooms that morning. Plus the floors were gross so I decided to re-autoscrub the ones that were nasty because we had about 10 minutes to spare after it was all said and done.
I am so glad to have a few days off before I go back to work again.
