Happy Breastfeeding Awareness Week

Well, actually it is the end of the World Breastfeeding Week, BUT today marks 2 things for our family. First, Monkey has officially been the longest nursed child AND we participated in the Big Latch-On.

Monkey turns 4 months tomorrow and even though we have had our trials, we are almost completely off supplements and she is really getting a deeper suction and more efficient at nursing. Not to mention it is what she enjoys. Since she is better at nursing, I took the gamble and participated in the Big Latch-On today which is an attempt to set a world record with the largest group of women nursing their children at the same time for a full minute. Monkey passed the test with flying colors by falling asleep.

However, that wasn't the only thing we did today. Peanut got to go to her friend's birthday party and not only was it at Skate World ... it was the 80's theme. I was bummed I didn't have a crimper OR hairspray BUT .... we DID have fun. She put her hair in a pony tail on the side of her head and used washable hair color sticks & sprays turning it pink, yellow and purple. We had her wear an oversized shirt and put a hair tie on the side since we didn't have one of those shirt buckles. I put some small dangle earrings in her since she isn't quite ready for long dangles and finally topped her off with make-up, including that electric blue eye shadow that was famous in the 80's. She had a GREAT time. She didn't make it far in limbo due to her hair BUT she didn't even care. My favorite photo of her today was when she put on the rock star glasses her friend handed out to everyone in the birthday party. I don't think I could trade my kids' smiles I have gotten this week for the world. Bullfrog gave me a great one at the SUPER hot baseball game and Peanut gave me hers today at the party. Monkey ... well, she gives me one almost every time she eats!

*well wanted to upload a picture but blogger isn't playing nice today.*
