Monkey turned 1 a couple weeks ago, however, her one year appointment at both WIC and her pediatrician was this week. We finally found out her measurements and got a few questions answered.
Monkey is 29" tall (over 40%) and 17lbs 14oz (4% CDC chart ... 11% from WHO chart). Her head measures just over 17" putting it also in the 3%, making her weight measurement FINALLY balance out. They believe she will be about 5'4" when she is an adult but the jury is still out on that.
She has been diagnosed as lactose intolerant. Now, this is different than milk protein intolerance. What lactose intolerance means is she is intolerant of the sugar in milk. IF that sugar is altered (by cooking, bacteria, etc) then she can intake it. Her pediatrician says that it is the same way with Peanut after listening to me talk about family history. Means I can't cook with regular milk but we can buy lactose-free. He said watch the amount of cheese she intakes but yogurt is completely fine. Sour cream should be okay, but cottage cheese is out. I am sure we will find out more as we go.
Because she still has issues with occasional reflux, we are running a celiac (or gluten intolerance) test and food allergy panel. I am HOPING that they come back negative and that her occasional reflux has simply been due to the milk. We will know more early next week. She had a pretty rough time at the lab so we couldn't get all the blood drawn but they are really going to try to make everything work.
By this evening though, you wouldn't know that she had shots or a blood draw earlier as she is eating like a horse, playing and singing to the television. I think we will call it a good day and see what tomorrow brings. Peanut is with my sister, mom and dad today and tomorrow having a break. She is helping them where they need her, but mainly is getting a break from life up here in KC. She needs this just as much as we all do. She did fantastic on her assessments and is finishing up with schoolwork soon. I am glad she is able to take a short mental break from regular life and am appreciative that my family could take her! =)
Pós impressionante para ler ... Espero que todos gozam.
