I was one of the lucky few that was given the chance to read Erica Cope's new book "Pieces of Me" for free. I told her that in exchange, I would do a review on the book.
Her summary of the book is the following:
Aria Watkins’s life was on the perfect path, or so she thought. She and
Sean had big plans for their future together. They were going to go off
to college, get married, and have 2.5 kids. But when tragedy strikes, it
destroys the heart of Aria and she's afraid she'll never be the same.
Heartbroken and confused, Aria starts college a completely different
person. She hardly recognizes the broken girl she's become, but she
can't seem to find the strength to put back together the pieces either.
Enter Holden Whitmore. He's charming, considerate, and he's making it
his mission to make her smile. At first, she isn’t impressed with him,
but he’s persistent and soon she discovers there’s more to him than just
a charming smile. Aria was sure she'd never be able to move on with her
life, but there's just something about Holden that makes her want to
try. When her tragedy comes full circle, she’s left with a choice: Keep
holding on to the past, or move on and find her future...
So, going into the book, I knew that my heart would be torn apart at the beginning. I was able to picture most of the book in my head and even felt emotionally charged with Aria. I am from Kansas so I could understand her drive to get away. I was able to imagine most of the characters ... at least the ones that really mattered. I think I may have imagined some of the characters as people I knew because of the description matching them to a T. LOL
What I was NOT expecting in the book was the major curve ball at the end of the book. I BAWLED guys ... only really good books make me cry. This book has the perfect touch of romance to make chicks love it, but it is clean enough for me to allow my 10 yr old daughter to read it. Amaze-balls.
Would I recommend it - Yes
Age Range - Tween, Young Adult
Gender - Primarily females ... BUT a guy could read it without feeling hinky or any less of a man
# of stars - 5/5 (it wraps up nicely, isn't forced, and I could totally see this being turned into a movie!)
You can find the book on Amazon in paperback or Kindle!
