Double Ponytail Flip with 5-Minute Look

Last week, I started a new series with my oldest daughter showing off a hairdo and a makeup look. We both had great fun, and so we have decided to continue the series. This week I went with a slightly different take. I let my daughter pick out the hairdo ... which almost was a disaster! She forgets that I am still LEARNING ... which means those fancy dancy weaves aren't going to happen yet.

However, we did come to a great compromise! She selected the Double Ponytail Flip and I selected a 5-Minute Look. This look is great for picture day, church, and game days. We chose to throw a K-State bow in, but you can use almost anything to cover the double flip, or leave it plain!

Double Ponytail Flip

Let's start with the hair since I like to do the hair first. I started by pulling a small ponytail using the hair on the top and some on the sides. Using a small elastic band, I pulled the hair tight. I used my pointer finger to create a small hole above the ponytail holder and then twisted the ponytail to make it easy to flip it up and put it through the hole I made.

After I finished that flip, I took some hair from the sides and made another ponytail. Did the same flip procedure and was left with this:

Now, we used wet hair, but if you use dry, you can loosen the hair and cover the bands. This will leave you with a gorgeous finished look. But K-State's first game of the 2014-15 season was today (which we won), so we threw a bow in the hair to show off school spirit. Here is the finished look. She LOVES it. It took absolutely no time to do and stays in great.

*Quick note - I had several people ask what hairbands I prefer to use. I have THREE girls so we use Goody's Ouchless for the large bands and then Basic Solutions Snag Free Elastic Bands for the small ones. They all stretch, are easy to put in, and easy to take out. Here are the ones I like to purchase!*

5-Minute Look

After we finished the hairdo, we moved onto the makeup. Today we went with a small pop of color, but still stuck with a look that can be done in 5 minutes. After applying the foundation, highlighter, and bronzer ... we used ALL Mary Kay products.

Starting with the eyes:
I used Brunette Brow Definer to take her super light eyebrows and gave them definition. On her eye lids, I used Sunset Beach Baked Eye Trio. I used the red on the lid and then the purple from the crease to the brow line. To finish the look, I put Lash Love on the lashes to make her eyes pop.

Moving onto the cheeks:
I used Mary Kay's Mineral Cheek Powder in Sparkling Cider and a the cheek brush to add a small touch of color.

Finish with the Lips:
I put one of my favorite colors on her lips ... Mocha Freeze. It is a Satin Creme Lipstick and is just a very natural look.
