I decided to make a new move in my beauty tip section by showing hairdos and looks that I have found on Pinterest. Since I am still learning (never really been into the girl look when I was younger), I am starting simple. My goal for these blog posts are:
- You to see what different colors look like
- You to see that styles are possible
- Give you an idea of things you can try
Today's look was an everyday look for the makeup, and the hairstyle was a variation of the Triple Lace Side Twists.
I started with the hair because I wanted to keep the hair out of the face with makeup. I found Cute Girl Hairstyles on Pinterest, and discovered they have a YouTube channel, a Facebook Page, AND an App. I'm in LOVE.

This style was easier for me to do on damp hair, but in the video it is done with dry. We did it on one side like the video showed, but both Peanut and I agreed that we liked the twist on both sides better. Here is the finished look!
Not too bad for my first real hairdo (other than the cute pigtails I give the toddlers)! After I finished with her hair, we started on the makeup (and I didn't realize that Turtle ran off with my phone so make sure you are aware of where your stuff is at all times - phone may not survive the latest interaction with water).
I started Peanut off with Ivory 1 foundation and then used bronzer to highlight her cheekbones. I only used a little highlighter pen to shape her nose and really bring out the definition in her face. After finishing the base, I covered it with translucent powder to help it set and look completely even.
With an even base, I was ready to do her eyes. I work from top down ... eyes, cheeks, and then lips. Peanut received the new 1D makeup for review, and we really love the blues. I will be placing an order with Mary Kay after I get back from Atlanta to get some new colors.
From the crease to the brow line, I put on Gotta Be You. Then, Save You tonight went in the creases. I highlighted near the tear duct and under the eye with More Than This. I finished the look with Mary Kay Brow Defining Pencil (Soft black) and Mary Kay Mascara (Black).

Finally, I put ELF Twinkle Pink on her cheeks, with Mary Kay Sparkling Cider along the jawbone for definition. For her lips, I used Mary Kay Dark Red lip liner, filled in her lips and then put Mary Kay Amber Glow on top.
The hairdo took me about 10-15 minutes to do and the makeup only took 15 minutes. Theoretically ... we will be doing the hair again on Monday for Peanut to wear to school!
How fun Heather! The finished hairdo looks stylish and complicated but you demonstrated it beautifully. I think this will be a great addition to your categories here.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all had fun. I rarely do my hair... just brush and go. Sometimes I will curl, but I generally like my hair down. The hairstyle looks interesting... something I probably would've done for myself in high school and college for the cuteness. :)
