What occupies your time? Part 2 of 2
*This is a continuation of yesterday's post on what should occupy your time. You can read part 1 here.*
Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers. ~ 1 Timothy 4:14-16

Fasting and Family Home Evening
Fasting is very hard for children to understand. It is hard to be hungry for adults, but children find it even more difficult. We do not force the fast on our children under the age of 8, and between 8 and 12, we will have them try to fast as long as possible
Fast Sunday is a week that we almost always have to battle with our oldest daughter because she would rather go to a friend's house and avoid fasting. Therefore, Family Home Evening teaching the children the importance of fasting can help ease the pain.

Fasting
Fasting is something many people hear spoken when you are trying to bring awareness and pray deeply about something. It is a discipline that is deeply spiritual and difficult. Over the next few days, I am going to talk about fasting and what it means to a Christian. Tomorrow is Fast Sunday for Latter-Day Saints, and my stepson is participating in the 30-Hour Famine with his youth group in southeast Kansas. I felt it was a fitting time to bring up this discussion. :)
