May 17th

Well, it is midnight, but I am finally blogging about today. It was so awesome. We had a great time and the temperature was ABOVE 80 degrees so it was a nice day to be outside. *not to mention that our A/C at the apartment has died and we won't have A/C until Monday which isn't too bad. Just wish circulation was better but that is what fans are for*

I was up LATE Friday night doing preparations because I didn't want to purchase a thing on Saturday (other than the bus pass). I made lunch for me and the kids, got water in bottles, and put them into the fridge to be cold in the AM. I also put some cereal into a couple bags and grabbed me an apple for breakfast knowing that we wouldn't have time to eat at home.

I got up around 7:10am and had the kids up and around at 7:30am. We went to the church first because we were told that the cleaning started at 8am. That, actually, was incorrect. The cleaning started at 8:30, but that didn't matter since the person in charge didn't show until almost 9am. I told Jer that we were leaving at 9:20 regardless. I had the kids help clean windows and the cleaner left the window so cloudy I gave up, went to my car and got auto glass cleaning wipes by Armorall and gave the kids all one wipe. We went to town and didn't worry about spraying anything. It worked LOADS better. I just wished I had my Method glass cleaner and some newspaper but oh well, can't have everything. At least I had something that allowed you to see through the glass.

We left around 9:15ish and headed over to the Home Depot parking lot where we caught the shuttle to Antioch Park. I didn't feel like hunting for a parking spot and then trying to walk with two excitable children. The shuttle took you right into the park and it was free. The kids had a great time and got to hold Peanut the parrot. The guy asked them if they wanted to and they both told him they weren't old enough. When he told them that this time they could, Bullfrog jumped ALL over it. He was EXSTATIC. Peanut didn't believe him until after Bullfrog actually got to hold the bird. She has wanted a bird for a while ... well the both have... but if they got everything they wanted we would live in a zoo. I wouldn't mind a cockatiel or a parakeet but I really prefer the more exotic birds and those require a lot more devotion as they can live to be 50-60 years old. After we walked the kids' area, we went to get a good spot for the parade and ate lunch. The kids were bummed there weren't more floats in the parade but enjoyed getting a little candy and sitting for a while none-the-less.

After the parade, we went back to the van and drove home to get hubby. He wanted to also go to the Lit Fest so we picked him up and then due to a second trip into the house for sunscreen, and then several red stop lights, we missed the bus we wanted by 1 minute. *sigh* We had to wait a 1/2 hour but the kids lived it up as you can see in the pictures. Before we could actually go to the festival though, I had promised Peanut she could go to her fountain. She LOVES this fountain and Jer & I decided that it would be the first place we look if she ever ran away. LOL We did Wonderscope Live! and had planned to do some concerts and storytelling but the kids had too much fun at their little area and then we were spent. Peanut was doing her "whine" that lets us know she has had enough for the day and all Bullrog wanted was the ice cream daddy had promised. So back to the fountain (due to daddy promising) and we missed the bus yet again! SOO, we stuck around the fountain for about 15 minutes and then went over to the stop. That was when we found out the next bus ended up being delayed about 10 minutes. Kids were un-phased. They were sitting and writing in their new "books" they had made.

After we got home, I discovered I did actually get a minor burn on my face but nothing too bad. The kids never did nap all day and so they called it an evening at about 9pm. It was a great day and I have a feeling we may have two kids actually sleep in tomorrow morning but who knows. We have another fun event scheduled for Monday and then we will be saving gas until Friday. I am SO excited to get to leave town finally and visit Elk Falls again that I can't wait. We even got someone to watch Johnny so we don't have to come up with $60 for PetSmart. I love them but I don't have a lot of extra cash lying around since we will be traveling a bit over the next few weeks!

PS: Here is that photo I LOVE
