It is so true that when one door shuts, another opens. The past few months I have had a job on a 3rd party hiring forum called oDesk. I have answered questions for Ask.com, but this week my contract was terminated after some shady business. I assure you, I did nothing wrong. While I am very frustrated with the firing, my family is not sad to see it go. For one, I have severely neglected MY blog and MY family because the deadlines were so rushed and there was not much work. I have had a few other "eggs" in the works during down times at the oDesk company anyway. One of those eggs has been a delight to work on. This evening, I got the email that my first HUGE project with the new company was accepted and it got a 5 star review. I am in love!
Being a freelance writer, I am having to re-learn how to divide my time between my children and my work. Some days I do better than others. I home school my children and it isn't something I can just do while they are at school. One of the problems I ran into with the oDesk job was that I didn't feel like I had time to give my kids the proper education, keep my house kept, and be a wife ... let alone work on my own business. I have not touched things that I enjoy, such as sewing or cross-stitch, in days.
I am looking forward to moving on with my life and the changes that are coming with my business. I am excited about my daughter's first birthday in a few short weeks and my 10 year anniversary in May. Followed by a huge family fun weekend at Crown Center with KC Jiggle Jam.
So, if you are a work at home mother and home school (or have children at home all day) ... what are things you do to divide up your time?
Just wanted to let you know I read the blog. Congratulation on the MP writing position. It seems like a perfect fit for you. Happy for you and your family!
